The Coach’s Top 10 Hints to Minimize Stress and Exhaustion Over the Holidays

My top 10 HINTS to Minimize Stress & Exhaustion over the holidays

✨✨ I love Christmas, I think most of us do, all the beautiful preparations like decorating the tree & our homes, baking, and getting together with loved ones….these are few of my favorites. 😍

But we put so much pressure on ourselves to get everything exactly right for the perfect Christmas. It’s a beautiful time of year yet it can also be stressful, leaving us financially stretched, exhausted and carrying a few extra pounds. 🥺

Is that what Christmas is about, or did we lose the meaning of the season somewhere along the way? I wondered, what can we do to remove some of the stress and exhaustion from this special time of the year?

After some reflection, I put together 10 hints I hope will help to enjoy this season more. 🎄🤩😍

Coach’s top 10 hints to enjoy Christmas and minimize exhaustion and stress

  1. Remember the real reason for the season. Connect with the spiritual side of this holy season. Attend a Christmas service, if not in person, find one online. It will bring much needed hope to your soul.
  2. Enjoy your loved ones. Value the time with your loved ones more than the food, gifts, or a perfectly decorated home.
  3. Don’t blow the budget. If you have a large family, draw names and set a budget (like $50) for one gift. Or agree to buy gifts only for the kids and not the adults. This will reduce overwhelm and help the budget.
  4. Make this season about an experience, not big gifts. Plan something special, an event, like playing games with family and friends. Focus on the experience of being together and enjoying each other, we all remember the experience more than most gifts anyway.
  5. Limit the alcohol and sugar. Most of us love enjoying something special during the holidays, just purpose in your heart not to overindulge. Decide today to limit how many sweets and alcohol you’ll consume; my limit is two during any gatherings. I encourage you, decide on your limit now and end the season feeling happy about yourself!
  6. Hydrate. When you drink more water you will feel better, you’ll have more energy and won’t be as hungry. Drink a large glass of water before every meal.
  7. Take time for you. Take time to unplug during this season, start a good book, take a bath, go for a walk, do something you love to recharge your batteries.
  8. Move more. One of my favorite family traditions is a long walk after our Christmas eve dinner. It’s good for physical activity and good conversations with your loved ones.
  9. Give to the less fortunate. Share the joy & spirit of the season with someone less fortunate then you. This year with so many desperate, hurting and lonely in our world, you could make someone’s holidays with your gift of time, money or encouraging words.
  10. Reach out.If you’re feeling lonely this Christmas season, reach out to a supportive friend and tell them how you’re feeling. Good conversations are something we all need more of. If you know someone who will be alone this season, let them know you’re thinking about them, this will warm their heart and yours as well.

Wishing you all blessed & peaceful Christmas,

Coach Jana
