Trauma & The Power of Forgiveness

I continue with the Change your Mind, Change your Life module of my Energy Path program, this time looking at the Power of Forgiveness.

The effect of unresolved childhood emotional trauma on health across a lifetime is possibly the most under-exposed risk factor for all major chronic health conditions.

People who experienced trauma in childhood have an increased risk of 7 out of 10 of the top ten causes of death and a 20-year reduction in lifespan. A study of 28,000 Californians showed that if a person has 4 or more traumatic experiences, they are 10.3 times more likely to use injection drugs, 7.4 times more likely to be an alcoholic, 2.93 times more likely to be a smoker, 3.23 times more likely to binge drink, and 3.3 times more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior.

Clearly, these behaviors will lead to an increased risk of diseases, like hepatitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. This can also result in other destructive health patterns, which leads to lack of healthy self-care, including workaholism, perfectionism, overachievement, over-giving, discounting personal needs, eating disorders, and much more.
People’s behavior, personality, beliefs and health are all affected due to unreleased emotional trauma.

Traumatic experiences have the tendency to get lodged in the soul and unless they are released, people continue to struggle. Freedom is difficult to achieve when the soul is weighed down with these heavy, negative emotions.
One of the most powerful techniques to release trauma from the body and soul is through forgiveness. Releasing forgiveness allows people to take their power back and gain freedom.

Once the emotional trauma is released, people have more energy and are no longer carrying the baggage or weight of those hurts. There is less emotional struggle, thinking gets clearer, and some can even become more creative as a result. People feel more joy and it becomes difficult for others to steal their energy and joy. It’s also proven to reverse the aging process, various aches and pains disappear from the body, self-care and eating habits change as the body is in less stress and inflammation. Interpersonal relationships improve.
With almost everything and everyone around us benefiting from our wholeness and freedom, it makes one wonder why we hang onto this stuff, right?

If you’re looking for emotional freedom, forgiveness is a healing choice. Set yourself free from a prison of pain and poison. “Forgive one another as, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Eph. 4:32
